Butterfly Art

These gorgeous butterflies have taken awhile but they are finally finished and up on the wall!!

First we created symmetrical butterflies using cellophane.

Next we created the backgrounds using crayon and dye

And here are some of our finished butterflies

Cookie Fractions

This week we have been looking at fractions again and because its nearly the end of term I thought it would be fun to use cookies to practice fractions with.
We watched these clips to start with to think about what we might be doing.

Then children were given some cookies to cut into halves and quarters.
Then we got to eat our cookies with a cup of milk.
Some children even dipped their cookies in.
After all these yummy cookies we wrote about what we had done.

Symmetry

Students looked at symmetry this week and we created some lovely symmetrical butterflies during maths time. This then got us thinking about creating symmetrical butterflies in art.

Here is room 5 creating their symmetrical butterflies.
